Proportion>london installation at the ALL WALKS curated Late Shift event at London's National Potrait Gallery

proportion>london were honoured to have been invited to contribute to the ALL WALKS "lateshift" event which took place at London's National Portrait Gallery mid February.

Styled by Michael Williamson, our installation featured bodyshapes from the Retrospective Collection whose distinctive shapes embody fashion profiles from 1875 to 1930. Set in one of the Galleries 2nd floor rooms, Michael recorded a soundscape explaining our love of mannequins and bust forms, how we arrive at the ideal mannequin and how we consider diversity of great importance to our industry.

The ALL WALKS curated event which celebrated diversity in fashion, featured a great many installations, set alongside the National Portrait Gallery's stunning collection of art.

Rankin provided 9 new portraits featuring current fashion designers collections photographed on celebrities (see left top image). The London College of Fashion condusted a live masterclass in illustration (see left bottom image), ID magazine photographed individuals to prove that diversity is a living breathing thing. This shoot will feature in a future magazine and as an online installation.

Many famous fashion people contributed soundscapes which beautifully placed in an appropriate part of the gallery. Vivienne Westwood's talk on her design ethos was incredible, set in the Tudor Gallery against Royal Portraits of the time. A debate on diversity and how we see our own imagery was well attended with fashion pundits, politicians, models and bystanders all giving their opinion.

ALL WALKS is a worthy initaitive set up by fashion heavyweights Caryn Franklin, debra Bourne and Erin O'Connor to focus the on body related issues withing fashion. Pictured left: All Walks founder member, Debra Bourne and stylist Michael Williamson.
